To become a naturalized citizen of the United States, individuals must file a form stating their intention to do so. These forms are housed in the Oregon State Archives in Salem Oregon. JCGL has five volumes of information from those forms filed in Jackson County Oregon between 1833 and 1929. In the first of those five volumes, information for the individual was abstracted but JCGL does not have the copies of the original Declaration of Intention. Follow this link, Abstracts, to access our abstracts of those forms. This information is free. Follow this link, Naturalization Abstracts
, to see these abstracts.
JCGL has copies of the declaration forms for most of the names listed in these five volumes. The index below shows all those for whom we have copies. If you find a name of interest to you and would like a copy of the Declaration of Intent, follow the Postal Request Form
link below to display the request form. Complete the form giving the name, volume, and page, then print it and send it to us along with a check for $10 and a stamped, self-addressed envelope. A copy of the intent form will be mailed to you.

When you complete the transaction, your request will be emailed to our librarian, who will make a copy of the requested information and email it to you as an attachment. It will be sent as a .jpg (picture) file. When you receive this .jpg file, click on it and it will be loaded into your picture viewer from which you can print a hard copy.
